- Abstract
- This study discusses the question of Lao-Zi a thinker in the time of Xian-Qin(先秦) on how to try and preserve the natural life by escaping from destructive unnaturalness (the will to do things) and capturing one's true nature. Lao-Zi presents the basic problem in people's life as the general discernment of the impersonal, of that which allows neither private feelings of individuals nor doing things contrary to nature, and so of human and forced making, to enter. That is simply the question of how people can escape from worldly desires and manage a life of natural, unwillful action, free of human making. In this he presents a firm belief that ultimately a powerful desire for a natural life can be achieved by eliminating demanding and tempting desires from society. In this belief he opened the way to preserve a natural life and completely demolish the border of desires that rise up endlessly within one while aiming towards an attitude of living simply.
