- Abstract
- As the waste-bones are considered possible phosphorus source materials for the stabilization of heavy metals in the aqueous and slurry phases, three kinds of waste-bones were collected and characterized. The various calcium phosphates were identified through XPS analysis in the bones of cow, pig and tuna and organic phosphorus in tuna bone only. The fractionation of phosphorus was carried out by CRM BCR-684 protocol, and the inorganic phosphorus.. most of all apatite phosphorus, was found out as the major form. The results of the leaching tests showed that the phosphorus in the waste-bones was very liable and easily dissolved into the aqueous phase and thus, the waste-bones could be used as the phosphorus source materials for the stabilization process of heavy metals.
