| dc.description.abstract | 신라는 唐과의 외교와 선진문물 수용을 목적으로 中代부터 당의 국자감에 유학생을 파견하였다. 따라서 신라 왕실은 唐 국자감으로의 유학을 장려하였고, 특히 원성왕 788년에 시행된 독서삼품과는 渡唐留學을 장려하는 적극적인 계기가 되었다. 한편, 唐에서는 안사의 난(755~783년) 이후 국자감 건물이 허물어지고 재정이 피폐해지면서, 당 국자감은 학생 모집에 어려움을 겪게 되었다. 그래서 821년에는 외국인 유학생을 위한 빈공과를 실시하였다. 빈공과의 실시는 도당유학생 증가에 기여하였으며, 특히 6두품 학생들이 당 국자감 유학을 적극적으로 선택하는 배경이 되었을 것이다. 당에서 821년부터 국자감 활성화를 위해 외국인 유학생을 본격적으로 유치하면서, 많은 수의 신라 학생들이 당 국자감으로 유학하게 되었다. 신라 下代에 당 국자감으로 유학 간 신라 학생들의 경제적 여건은 열악하였다. 비록 신라와 당 조정이 국비로 유학을 보조해 주었지만, 안사의 난 이후 당과 신라에서의 경제적 지원이 부족함에 따라 신라 학생들은 유학 비용의 일부를 사비로 감당하여야 했다. 유학 비용은 일본의 『延喜式』을 통해 추론해 보았다. 이와 같이 신라 하대에는 당 국자감의 외국인 학생 유치 정책과 신라의 도당유학 장려책, 그리고 신라 유학생들의 入仕 욕구가 배경이 되어 당 국자감으로의 유학이 증가하였던 것이다. | - |
