- Abstract
- 이 연구는 청일전쟁 전후 동아시아 국제질서의 변용과 이러한 격변기에 일본군에 의해 학살당한 조선 민중에 대한 국제정치학 및 역사학적 분석이다. 이 연구는 학제적 분석을 시도함에 있어 역사학이 강조하는 1차 사료에 대한 수집 및역사적 사실에 대한 국제정치학적 개념화도 추구할 것이다. 구체적인 연구 방법으로 국가 실패(state failure)라는 개념과 나치정권에 의한 유태인의 홀로코스트분석법을 이용하는 등 청일전쟁과 동학농민전쟁에 대해 국제적, 국가적, 민중 운동적 층위에서 접근한다. 이를 통해 일본군에 의한 최소 3만 명에서 최대 30~40 만 명에 달하는 동학농민군과 양민의 학살이 어떤 국제적, 국내적 환경에서 가능했는지를 재조명 할 수 있다. 이 연구는 한반도에서 실패국가(조선)와 실패패권(청)이 통치 위기를 유발하면서 근대국가(일본)의 침략성과 잔혹성에 의해 청일전쟁과 동학농민군의 홀로코스트가 발생했다고 본다.
