Abstract
This study is about the changes and historical background of Lu-gak of Gyeonggi-do Buddhist temples. We focused on the appearance of the elevation and the function of the plane for analyzing Lu-gak. Among 103 traditional Buddhist temples in Gyeonggi-do, Lu-gak was found in 33 temples and 7 of them which were constructed until 1935 were designed as subjects of this study. Through this study, Lu-gak of Gyeonggi-do was not much different from Yeongnam and Honam area until the end of 18c, but the shape of Lu-gak changed much due to the appearance of Daebang in the early 19c. Since then, there were cases that the function of Daebang was added to lu-gak or cases that Daebang was made in the form of lu-gak. Therefore, we classified lu-gak of Gyeonggi-do buddhist temples into lu-gak type and daebang type according to difference of form and function. Opening and closing of the wall of Lu-gak type and ues of the plane of Daebang type were continuously changed until nowadays.
