Using institutional theory as the analytical perspective, this study evaluates the case of the Korean gaming industry. Incorporating three dimensions of institutionalization, regulatory, mimetic and normative mechanisms, this study investigates how the Korean gaming industry has evolved to become a pioneer in the online gaming industry. The findings show that the three institutional mechanisms were effective in making the Korean online gaming industry flourish in both domestic and foreign markets.-
