Abstract
This study is aimed at investigating the changes over time in the muscular function and the times to obtain the maximum muscular function after kinesio taping for the thigh. Ten healthy college students in the Department of Sport and Leisure Studies at K-university were screened, and individuals who were allergic to tape and had a history of previous injury or surgery in their nerve, muscle, and skeletal systems, such as paresthesia and motor disorder, were excluded from this study. Subjects were taped for the thigh areas and the isokinetic muscular function on those areas were measured before taping (TN)and then at five different time scales, immediately after(T0), 12hours(T12), 24hours(T24), 36hours(T36), and 48hours(T48) after taping. Experimental data were compared with the average and standard deviation using window based statistical package SPSS/pc 12.0 and the changes and times to the maximum revelation in the muscular function before and after taping over time were statistically analyzed using Dunnett’s post-hoc test and Scheffe’s post-hoc test at a preset level of significance of α=.05. The results are listed as follows. The increase in muscular function at thigh flexion and extension has been found at all the time scales after taping compared with before taping and the muscular function was achieved about 24 hours after taping.
