- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of altitude training on inspiratory muscle and swimming performance of swimmers in the Korea national team. Twelve swimmers were participated for this study. All subjects were measured maximum inspiratory capacity, inspiratory endurance and swimming record before altitude training, and were trained at Kunming in China during three weeks. After altitude training, all subjects were recalibrated maximum inspiratory capacity, inspiratory endurance, swimming record. The results of this study were as follows; The peak s_index, peak flow, avg. inspiratory power, total energy, swimming record had significantly increased. Thus, altitude training improves inspiratory muscle and swimming performance, and it would be desirable to enter a competition in the first week after altitude training.
