- Abstract
- The Search and Rescue (SAR) helicopter has higher probability of human error than other aircraft. Nonetheless, a SAR helicopter’s altimeter did not reflected characteristics of helicopter, but it was based on interface of fixed-wing aircraft. This study has been applying Ecological Interface Design (EID) to altimeter for reflecting characteristics of SAR helicopter and coping unanticipated event. We had made work domain model (WDM) of SAR helicopter in the previous study. In this study, necessary informations have been extracted from WDM for altimeter. Then altimeter has been designed to help skill-based/rule-based/knowledge-based behavior of pilot. The result of experiment for evaluating EID altimeter has showed that the necessary informations have been reflected effectively. This study expand EID study field to SAR helicopter and confirm that EID altimeter is better than traditional altimeter of SAR helicopter. The result represent that this study can help to improve safety of flight of SAR helicopter.
