- Abstract
- Kim, Sohee and Kang, Beom-mo 2018. Korean Expressions with Negative Polarity Tendency: Distinctive Collexeme Analysis of Sejong Corpus. Korean Journal of Linguistics, 43-2, 175-201. This paper explores Korean expressions with regard to Negative Polarity Tendency and investigates what negative contexts mean in linguistic usage. We extracts morphemes with strong negative polarity tendency from the comparison the morphemes in the negative and those in positive contexts. Sejong Corpus data is analyzed by Distinctive Collexeme Analysis(using R). The paper also takes account of various corpus examples to figure out the meaning and function of negative contexts in language use. The results of the paper are as follow is that the items of a Negative Polarity Tendency comprise a portion of Negative context. People frequently use negative expressions instead of positive ones in conveying concessive or contrastive meanings. There are some multi-word expressions which are entrenched relatively strong in negative expressions. (Korea University)
