- Abstract
- This paper examines Korean presidential speeches by looking at concealed ideology from the viewpoint of Fairclough`s Critical Discourse Analysis(CDA). To this end, I analyzed the intention behind a number of speeches, focusing on the use of various personal pronouns (we / (all of) you / you / I) in the speeches of President Moon Jae-in. For analysis of the discourse effect on vocabulary selection, I looked at the words used in the inaugural address of President Moon Jae-in and at what language means he used to communicate his intention effectively. For example, he conveyed his message through the premise, intertextuality. The value of this paper lies in presenting a concrete example of critical discourse analysis by analyzing the text of political speeches by President Moon Jae-in based on Fairclough`s technique.
