- Abstract
- 독립신문의 사랑은 이전부터 사용되던 애(愛)의 의미망을 모두 포괄하면서도 아가페(agape)적 의미를 주도적으로 드러내고 있다. 아가페적 의미의 소환은 서구에서도 계몽의 기획과 함께 등장하는 것이다. 이것은 전근대와 근대의 교차점에서 ‘사랑’이 근대의 지층에서 새롭게 구상되고 있었음을 추측하게 한다. 따라서 『독립신문』에 등장하는 ‘사랑’의 연결망을 추적함으로서 ‘사랑’의 ‘근대적 기원’을 해명하는 유효한 정보를 제공할 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.
