- Abstract
- The Hearer honorific system is important in Korean and Korean education. Grammar education that is in charge of hearer honorific system should improve contents of education by reflecting the aspect of language use. This study aims to piece together related discussion and settle that. Specifically, this study suggests improvement suggestion of hearer honorific system table in textbooks. In conclusion, researcher suggests three methods to modify that table.
Firstly, contents that form learners’ misconceptions should be modified. To do this, binary system divided into formal and informal should be changed into a variable that determines the speech level of the hearer honorific system. In addition, hearer honorific system should be taught by explaining system is selected to do treat people differently for various factor, not to do enhance or degrade people.
Secondly, the hearer honorific system education has to help students connect contents of education to real language use by diversifying ending list.
Finally, the hearer honorific system education should be able to provide information about usage of hearer honorific system.
