- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of Pilates exercises with elastic band on maximum muscular strength and balance of elderly women for 12 weeks, and to verify the effectiveness of Pilates exercise.
The participants in age of 60s who have no experiences in pilates. 6 people (PG. age (69.3±1.67), height (159.88±3.31), weight (54.24±5.00)) were experimental group. And the other 6 people with physical factors of (CG. Age (65.54±5.83), Height (162.79±4.86), weight (59.50±8.03)) who did not participate in the program.
The results of this research about the Pilates exercises with elastic band are three following points.
First of all, according to the measurements of the body composition of each participant who went through Pilates exercises, there are significant differences shown on BMI (kg/m2), and body fat (%).
Second, there are significant differences shown on Peak Torque of extensors per Body weight at angular velocity of 120°/sec. Third, there are significant differences shown on balance Level 1(Medial Lateral Index) of Pilates exercises with elastic band.
In conclusion, Pilates exercises with elastic band for 12 weeks with frequency of three times a week has positive effect on maximum muscular strength and balance.
