- Abstract
- This paper reviews previous innovation research which has been done in the context of emerging and transition countries through a systematic way. The paper presents a critical review of extent 107 empirical studies published between 1990 and 2009 that explored the determinants of firms' technological innovation and the relationship between innovation and firm performance with special reference to emerging and transition countries. We analysed the trend of publication, geographical distribution of investigated article, main method used, and determinants of innovation and measurement of innovation. We also identify their main contributions and limitations. The paper suggests future research agenda and direction for both theorists and managers. ©2015 International Information Institute.
