- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to analyze the aethetic categories related to the fasion designs of the internationaly renowned Italian fashion designer, Franco Moschino. Newspaper and magazine articles were collected from The Arts database of ProQuest and then the words and phrases that described the characteristics of Moschino’s designs were extracted from the articles. They were classified into seven aesthetic categories: beauty, grace, comeliness, sublimity, humor, aptness and ugliness. Expressions related to all seven aesthetic categories were found from the articles. However, more expressions were related to sublimity and humor compared with other categories. Overall, Moschino did not ignore the importance of practicality and the basic principles of fashion design, even though he tried to overthrow the existing fashion system. © Rushing Water Publishers Ltd. 2019.
