- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the undergraduate course titled Reading Education for Creativity & Personality. This course was developed as a sub-project in a funded study and operated twice in 2013 and 2015 in K Univ, Seoul, Korea. Totally 56 undergraduate students with 7 majors in college of education participated in this study. All students in this study joined a full-semester training(16 weeks), including identifying concepts of creativity·personality education and developing reading programs to enhance creativity·personality. Data from the survey(pre/post, Creativity·Personality teaching efficacy), self-report, and course evaluation were collected. The survey results showed significantly higher development in all factors, from Creativity·Personality teaching perception to Creativity·Personality teaching efficacy by teaching reading. In addition, positive gender effect and grade effect(male, 3rd grade) were identified. In qualitative analysis, 3 themes of course benefits were discussed with excerpts of the students’ self-reports. Based on the results, some suggestions were provided for researchers and teachers for further investigation.
