- Abstract
- This study attempted to recognize teachers as the readers of the national curriculum and analyzed teachers' comments on Korean Language Arts Curriculum recently reformed in 2009. For the data collection, 165 teachers who taught Korean language arts in elementary, middle, or high schools read Korean language arts curriculum and individually recorded their own ideas and questions by the sentence of the national curriculum document.
This study focused on analyzing teachers' comments on the intro part of the Korean language arts curriculum. The intro part of the 2009 curriculum had four major sections. Korean language arts teachers offered rich comments on various issues and problems in these sections, such as the appropriateness of academic words and concepts of the curriculum, the newly presented nature and aims of Korean language arts, and the changes in the structure of the document. Qualitative analyses of teachers' comments highlighted embedded problems of the specific sentence in 2009 curriculum. The result of this study would be critical data for refining the quality of the curriculum.
