- Abstract
- This paper proposes a novel pinch detection method based on finite impulse response (FIR) filtering for automotive anti-pinch sunroof systems (APSS). In the proposed method, the squeezing force is estimated via FIR filtering, which uses finite recent measurements from a low-cost Hall sensor. The FIR filter is more robust against parameter uncertainties in state-space models of the sunroof motor compared to the Kalman filter. The FIR filter also exhibits a relatively faster tracking speed when the squeezing force rises abruptly in a pinch situation. An experimental APSS was constructed to demonstrate the proposed pinch detection is more accurate than conventional methods.
