Abstract
Superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) are increasingly being used as a mechanism to effectively control fault currents in a power system. However, SFCL placement and relay coordination can be complicated by the unexpected failure or maintenance of SFCLs. This paper presents a power system reconfiguration method for coordinating overcurrent protection considering SFCL failure in system protection. The proposed power system reconfiguration method is designed to handle SFCL failure in the relay coordination.
